English Heritage Buildings has achieved third-party certification under the BM TRADA Q-Mark Building Systems Scheme for its oak frame building system. The kit is used to manufacture bespoke and traditional buildings for domestic, commercial and public use.

The BM TRADA Q-Mark scheme ensures compliance with the main requirements of European Technical Approval Guideline 007 ‘Timber Frame Building Kits’ (ETAG 007). It covers factory production control, documentation and test/assessment evidence. The scheme also aims ‘to provide specifiers, regulators and inspection authorities with appropriate Information’ on the fitness for purpose of the products covered, and paves the way for CE marking.

The Q-Mark denotes that the English Heritage Buildings kit complies with the Building Regulations 2000 (England and Wales), the Building (Scotland) Regulations 2004 and the Building Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2000.

English Heritage Buildings has, it says, led the way in reviving oak frame construction in the UK, ‘ensuring the survival of a beautiful, sustainable building material and centuries-old carpentry skills’.
