FIRST PAPER MERCHANT CERTIFIED TO PAS 2020

Date: 24th March 2010

Antalis and James McNaughton have taken a leading position by becoming the first paper merchant to be certified to the British Standard PAS 2020:2009 and only the fourth company to pass the new environmental standard for direct marketing communication.  The other three companies certified so far are: Central Office of Information, Axa Sun Life and Williams Lea.
The PAS (Publicly Available Specification) 2020 focuses on establishing a set of environmental objectives, performance levels and indicators for the different environmental aspects of a Direct Mail (DM) campaign.
Matthew Botfield, Environment Manager commented: “We’re delighted to be the first merchant to receive this certification.  Although PAS2020 is new, it will quickly become one of the most important certifications affecting the print and paper industry.  The direct marketing industry is a significant contributor to sales activity and employment in the UK, so cleaning up the ‘junk mail’ stigma is a fundamental part of protecting the future of direct marketing in print.”

Susan Morton, BM TRADA Certification Client Manager, complimented the company on producing “a thorough Campaign Manual” and developing “a robust methodology for calculating the campaign environmental performance scores”. She added, “PAS 2020 is a natural fit for BM TRADA’s client base, and we are glad to have worked with Antalis to help launch our PAS 2020 certification scheme.”
